Anubis Quartet is a new-generation modular saxophone ensemble committed to the creation, progression, and performance of new music. The quartet establishes a symbolic connection between Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Underworld, and the volatile yet sensual world of sound, color, and transformation which is vital to contemporary music. The group's name also pays hommage to French spectralist Gérard Grisey, a composer whose work has inspired and influenced the quartet members. Musicians of Anubis Quartet regularly perform on all members of the saxophone family, resulting in engaging and varied performances which exponentially increase the possibilities of expression through sound.
