About Yiorgos:
In modern times, with increasing specialization, the disciplines of art and architecture have parted company. Architects design buildings for clients with a brief in mind, whereas artists can give free rein to their ideas. But there remains among many architects a residual attachment to the idea of being an artist, or at least to the idea of architecture as a creative and imaginative discipline. Yiorgos Arachovitis is here to give us a view of the architect that is responsible of restoring an old building, of preserving memory and of safekeeping art of ages past. By his side we uncover a new image of Piraeus Port -the first and largest port of Greece. With his steady hand and ideas we see the action taken to make Piraeus history known through its buildings and the attempt to make it a more hospitable port.

About TEDx:
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
