Two fin whales, the 2nd largest whale species with lengths that can rival a small blue whale, wowed whale watchers aboard Captain Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari on December 1st. The two whales were seen lunge feeding on surface krill (a small shrimp-like crustacean) off the coast of Dana Point, California, in front of the Ritz-Carlton hotel. Our whale watching passengers and crew were especially thrilled when the two whales, while our boat was in neutral and stationary, decided to swim directly in front of our bow giving us a rare up-close and unforgettable look at one of the biggest animals in the world.
***** Captain Dave's Dolphin and Whale Safari offers daily, year-round, dolphin and whale watching trips from Dana Point Harbor aboard a hi-tech catamaran with Eye-to-Eye Underwater Viewing Pods and LIVE broadcasting from www.whalewatchingtv.com.
