This video is the culminating project of the 2014 Dr. Carver Gayton Youth Curator Program. Each year 10 high school students are selected to participate in a 12 week long program where they engage in artistic and curatorial practice. The Catch My Drift is a response in historical thought. From NAAM's exhibition Pitch Black: African American Baseball in Washington. Ten young curators found a moral purpose and lessons to be learned in the history of African American baseball. Their response speaks to their interest in the players' outstanding caliber of play. It also questions the indignities teams tolerated as they met challenges playing the game they loved.
