Let's examine what makes a jQuery plugin and how to transform user input on a web page. We'll be looking at jQuery.IME, an input method editor from the MediaWiki foundation that allows people to write in less-common languages without installing any software. We'll see how the plugin is written, trace it in Firebug, and then write our own input method for Japanese emoticons.
