At The Fund for Animals these six skunks came from an unfortunate situation where an adult skunk was seen around a school for several days. Thinking it would be disastrous if the skunks and children intersected, the school trapped the adult and took her far away.
Several days later they saw the pint sized babies, now starving, roaming throughout the school grounds crying for their mom. Thankfully they called for help at that point and the skunk kits were picked up and brought in for rehab. They are seen here, big and happy, playing with their siblings. When they weigh 2 pounds, they will be released in a canyon near the school where they were originally born. Ideally, the school would have called us first and we could have provided guidance on how to encourage the mother skunk to move her family away from the school and they could have all stayed together.
