We have developed an artificial reflex for a prosthetic hand equipped with the BioTac tactile sensors. When contact is detected in the BioTacs the electromyographical command signals from the prosthesis wearer's muscles to the prosthetic motor are automatically reduced to prevent the crushing of fragile objects.
