The big object covered with the bright blue tarp was a 116 foot long, 46 foot wide ferry, destined to replace the 65-year-old Martha S., the ferry that currently crosses the Columbia between Keller and Wilbur Washington, connecting Lincoln County and the aptly named Ferry County. In fact, it is the only exit from Ferry County that doesn't involve crossing a mountain pass. The new ferry passed through The Dalles this morning, taking almost 30 minutes to travel from the Chenowith Interchange to the Highway 97 overpass.
