" Nine hundred first year students, five days, one Indian village. The task: engineer improvements in their community." During the week, students from across the Faculty of Engineering, worked in multi-disciplinary groups of 6 to tackle real-world problems from a global perspective, thinking not only about the technical issues involved in solving problems and engineering creative solutions, but also the social, ethical and environmental considerations for effective, sustainable solutions. Projects were based on the Engineers Without Borders Challenge and the best solutions will represent the University in this national competition.
