October 2012 marks Lutheran Family Health Centers' 45th anniversary. The Sunset Park Family Health Center opened its doors in October 1967 (located where today's Sunset Terrace FHC stands). Throughout a period of urban decay in southwest Brooklyn, the SPFHC served as a beacon of hope for patients in need of medical care. Today, the LFHC network consists of nine primary care sites, 31 school-based health centers and dental clinics and 14 community medicine program sites.
In addition to highlighting our growth, this video focuses on that which is most meaningful to us and tells our story most clearly -- the people we serve. Thank you to everyone who generously agreed to share their journeys and reflect on the roles that Lutheran has played in their lives. Interviews also include Dr. H. Jack Geiger, founder of the Federal Community Health Center Program.
