Thirty years ago the battle of Orgreave took place in England's green and pleasant land. It wasn’t a war even though it looked and felt like one. Instead it represented the state’s abandonment of social peace, the militarization of the police in a trade’s dispute, and the dereliction of journalistic duty by the broadcast media with which we have sadly become familiar. Joining us this week is Barbara Jackson of the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign to tell us of the continued fight for justice for the miners, and to bring to account the now discredited leadership of the South Yorkshire constabulary.

Bombers in the channel and warships off Britain’s coast… If you believe the British media and some government ministers, it’s only a matter of time before the Red Army complete with snow on their boots turns up on a high street near you. How hot is the new Cold War going to get? Helping us to answer the question is the Guardian's associate editor Seumas Milne.
