A Rochester man has simple plans after winning $1 million from the Hoosier Lottery.
"I'm going to buy a new pair of shoes," he says.
The Fulton County man exemplifies Hoosier values when he said it is all about family.
"If you don't have family you don't have nothing," said Harding as he waited for his winnings at Hoosier Lottery Headquarters last Friday. "That's what it's all about. I'm going to help my family be comfortable."
Harding purchased his lucky ticket at Casey's at 1811 E. State Road 14 in Rochester. The million-dollar winner said he isn't a regular Lottery player. He only purchased his winning ticket on a lark, at the recommendation of the clerk.
"She suggested I try a new pack of tickets if I was gonna buy one," said Harding. "I thought, 'Well, that's cool,' so I did."
The former drywall installer and current mechanic conceded that he might splurge and buy himself Notre Dame football season tickets to go with his new pair of shoes, but other than that he doesn't plan to do things much differently than he always has. He plans to continue going to work every day and spoiling his grandchildren.
