In May 2009 sea trials were performed with the NorseBoat 17.5 being used for the Arctic Mariner Expedition. Two Royal Marines, Tony Lancashire and Kevin Oliver, were taking the boat up to the arctic to become the first open boat through the NW Passage. They covered 2000 miles during the 2009/2010 seasons.
