After returning from a trip to Guatemala, MADRE Executive Director Yifat Susskind shares the story of Rosemary Gonzalez, a young girl murdered two years ago. Rosemary's mother Betty Gonzalez still seeks justice for her child, despite a system of corrupt judges and police and the release of Rosemary's accused killer. In the past decade, nearly 5,000 young women have been brutally murdered in Guatemala, some as young as ten. Today, MADRE is partnering with the Women Worker's Committee to both protect women against violence and support the families of victims with legal aid services.
