The Lenny Wilkens Foundation funds organizations that deliver healthcare and education services to young people while honoring their dignity and sense of self-respect. The Wilkens commitment to this mission started with Lennys and Marilyns first contribution to the Odessa Brown Childrens Clinic in 1970, and eventually led them to start the Foundation. The entire Wilkens family is passionate about encouraging young people to explore and achieve their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. They believe that:
- Todays children are tomorrows leaders, and it is our duty to make sure they all have an equal opportunity to succeed. - Children have the right to receive basic healthcare with dignity, regardless of their families ability to pay. - All children should have access to educational tools that prepare them to thrive in our increasingly competitive world.
The primary recipient of funds from the Lenny Wilkens Foundation is the Odessa Brown Childrens Clinic, a community clinic of Childrens Hospital of Seattle. The clinics healthcare services include basic medical care, health and lifestyle education, dental care, and mental healthcare.
