Made from recycled materials from the local dump, this iconic roadrunner has overlooked travelers on I-10 for the greater part of the past decade. The statue stands 20 feet tall, and was the creation of local artist Olin Calk. According to Calk, the intention of the work was to draw attention to the landfill itself and thus to issues regarding consumption, the potential reuse of some materials, and the recycling of mass consumed packaging residuals.
