Join us for a special lecture during the Reel Heritage presentation of a selection of silent shorts at TIFF Bell Lightbox.

Giovanna Fossati of EYE Filmmuseum and the University of Amsterdam discusses new directions in film research and preservation, and presents an accompanying selection of silent shorts.

As part of our Reel Heritage initiative, Giovanna Fossati, Chief Curator at EYE Filmmuseum and professor at the University of Amsterdam, will present a public lecture that explores findings from her recent books, Exposing the Film Apparatus and Fantasia of Color in Early Cinema. Following her talk, Exposing Film Heritage: New Directions in Research and Presentation, Fossati will screen a selection of silent shorts from the EYE's collection.

Launched in 2014, Reel Heritage is an ongoing examination of the challenges and opportunities facing moving-image collections and the importance of film preservation. This event is supported by the Government of Canada and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
