The Adam Smith Institute welcomed The Rt Hon. the Lord Lawson of Blaby to speak at our Freedom’s Fighters session on Wednesday 3rd April. Nigel Lawson served as Chancellor of the Exchequer in the cabinet of Margaret Thatcher, aiming to cut a tax in every budget. His tax cuts resulted in the "Lawson Boom" of the British economy, which halved unemployment by the end of 1989. Lawson was a key proponent of Thatcher's policies of privatisation of several key industries. He is still active in politics as President of Conservatives for Britain and a supporter of the group Leave Means Leave.
