SelTrac ™
Communications Based Train Control

Thales is the world leader in urban rail mobility.
Thales’ SelTrac® is the state-of-the-art digitalized solution for Communication Based Train Control (or CBTC).
It uses widely available mobile communication in a secured manner to report train positions and speeds – managing train movement safely and efficiently.
Our Moving Block technology protects train movement in any direction and anywhere in the controlled territory.
It operates with close headways – down to 60 seconds.
Once the track ahead is clear the train’s limit of movement authority is extended and the train can accelerate to the maximum allowed speed safely while maintaining train separation, and optimizing passenger capacity.
Using mobile communication, SelTrac CBTC system generates real time train and wayside information and executes the monitoring and command of safe train movements automatically.
Information is summarized and presented to the Operation Control Center for any critical decision to be made when and if needed.
The centralized command is also used to monitor and regulate operations enabling the operator to optimize the full use of its system assets in real-time.
Thales is always here in your decisive moments.
