Maria Louise Baldwin of Cambridge, MA was principal of the Agassiz elementary school in the city for 32 years, from 1889-1922. She was part of both the Niagara movement and an original member of the NAACP. Her home was the site of cultural gatherings that included students from Harvard like W. E. B. DuBois and William Monroe Trotter. The Baldwin School in Cambridge is named in her honor.
