St. George, English Martyrs & Our Lady of Walsingham - 81 Holy Rosary Novena "Anglia Dos Mariae. England is the Dowry of Our Lady"
Pope Leo XIII in 1893 speaking to a group of Catholic English pilgrims addressed, "The wonderful filial love which burnt within the heart of your forefathers towards the great Mother of God ... to whose service they consecrated themselves with such abundant proofs of devotion, that the kingdom itself acquired the singular and highly honourable title of 'Mary's Dowry.'"
Lord I pray thee through the powerful intercession of St. George, English Martyrs & Our Lady of Walsingham that England will once again hold the singlar and highly honourable title of 'Mary's Dowry.' Let the hearts of the English be conquered and consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary! I also ask you dear people praying this novena to pray for this intention and all your intentions with the mighty intercession of St. George, English Martyrs & Our Lady of Walsingham!
"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more," "Cry God for Harry, England, and Saint George!" William Shakespeare
Saint Edmund Campion's last words at his trial with two other priests were: “In condemning us, you condemn all your own ancestors, all our ancient bishops and kings, all that was once the glory of England – the island of saints, and the most devoted child of the See of Peter.”
