For two decades strong, WritersCorps has placed professional writers in schools, juvenile hall, community organizations, and libraries across the city, reaching 20,000 young people. Find out fun facts about who we are and what we've accomplished with our youth!
In celebration of WritersCorps’ 20th anniversary, we’ve produced a series of short video about the impact WritersCorps has on SF youth and the literary arts community. Some of the students portrayed are also featured in our 20th Anniversary poster series in downtown San Francisco. Each poster features a portrait of the student and an excerpt of his or her writing.
On May 14, 2013, WritersCorps presented Iron Mom: Not Just a Baby Mama at Brava Theater Center in San Francisco. This performance about the reality of motherhood featured poet and lead artist Leticia Hernández, WritersCorps teaching artist Minna Dubin, and 10 young women from Hilltop School.
This performance was made possible with a grant from the Creative Work Fund.
