When "American Idol" contestant and UL Lafayette student Ben Boone agreed to give a special performance at Women's & Children's Hospital on Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, he had no clue how much of an impact his gift would have. Staff, patients, families and visitors packed the Aquarium Lobby on Monday for the afternoon performance. Many stayed after to pose for pictures, secure a personal autograph and thank Ben for such an amazing one-hour performance that brought tears and smiles. Nearly 41,000 women in the U.S. died of breast cancer in 2007. That's according to the latest statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
