• Ultralight Backpacking John Muir Trail

Scroll down for gear information... High Sierra backpacking footage shot during my stag John Muir Trail foray from Tuolumne Meadows to Mt. Whitney. I eased off Mount Whitney via the Mountaineer's Route (a John Muir first ascent) and hitched a ride back to my truck in the Meadows. The extemporized campaign took place from late July to early August and lasted 11 days, including 1 rest day and 3 resupply trips (Mammoth Lakes, Muir Trail Ranch, Bishop via Kearsarge Pass). In all, I covered about 210 miles including 189 miles of the JMT. In July 2014, I hiked the section from Tuolumne to the Valley just to tie up loose ends... sure I went backwards, but it was all downhill :)
