The capstone for my undergraduate degree. It tells the classic story of an automaton seeking immortality through myth and legend. More importantly it serves as proof that I actually attended college. Sets were constructed using particle board, gesso, earthenware clay, acrylic paint, and nylon stockings. The automaton was built using polymer clay, Helping Hand armature joints, liquid weld, and wire. Masks were made of polymer clay, the hive was an epoxy resin cast with a paper wasp nest, and I used about 4 different dead bees.
Principle photography was done at 24 FPS on a Canon XL-1s. I handled all aspects of production from concept to storyboard to set/prop construction. The dead bees were not my doing directly, but rather the accidental result of nitric acid fumes in my studio.
