Nástio Mosquito is one of the four artists in the exhibition 'Positions #2' organised by the Van Abbemuseum.
Music, language and testimony lie at the core of Mosquito’s practice. His work crosses genres and disciplines: performance art and moving image, music, sound, and installations. The characters he plays in his works and performances may be
fictional or composed of many personas and alter egos, but are
all channelled through the artist’s spoken words and body. He plays with, performs and undermines language, and the resulting installations are emotive and provocative.
Both of the audio visual installations in Positions #2 (Ser Humano & I am Naked) probe and question the usefulness of identity and
what it means to individuals and one’s sense of self.
Other artists in 'Positions #2' are Anna Boghiguian, Chia-Wei Hsu, and Sarah Pierce.
In 2014 the Van Abbemuseum started the exhibition series 'Positions', that sets a series of projects in dialogue with one another in the ten galleries of the museum's old building. 'Positions' explores different tones of contemporary artistic voices.
