Originating in Santa Fe in 2010 and recording the CelloCosmos debut album in 2011, featuring the amazing electronically manipulated cello mastery of Kott, who has performed with many internationally known artists throughout the world. Loop, on synthesizers, samplers and electronic cello manipulation, lays down deep space and experimental electronics underneath the cello explorations. Fascinating musical landscapes, from classical overtones to deep space electronics.
Rampant Egos formed in 2007 or thereabouts in New Mexico with new music artists Justin Parker and Arnold Bodmer of Albuqerque, teaming up with former New Mexico resident and now California artist Dwight Loop to form the group.
Experimental, electronic, avant garde, poetic...a mind-boggling array of music comes out of this trio.
Often joined by fellow New Mexico and California musicians, Lee Howard, Jeff Sussmann, Al Faet, Doug Woldridge and poet/artist Robert Hay, the Rampant Egos music never fails to surprise and enlighten.
Parker, whose experimental music credits include Frozen Disneys, Mitochondria, ArtIsIndustry Orchestra and Hologrammophone, is a superb recorder player of all types and has nearly all sizes he utilizes in the Rampant Egos. Bodmer is a rock/jazz keyboardist who has many credits with the Wet Sox, Kobiashi Maru, Alma and many other notable New Mexico progressive and jazz/rock bands. Loop is an electronic music composer with solo albums and group efforts with his Dream Jungle project, Friedricke, and UBO.
Bodmer and Loop collaborated on Circuits, electronic music multi-media art/music theater products at the Kimo Theater in Albuquerque in the mid 1980s. Parker and Loop were members of Mitochondria and ArtIsIndustry Orchestra in Santa Fe in the late 80s.
The trio also records as floating members of Earth Alien with Lee Howard, and Solid Ghosts on the Third Ear Music label.
