So yeah, another removed car from the FR series that I "restored".
By the looks of it, it was somewhat copy-pasted from Ford Street racing, but some game specific details were different, so I suppose it was still meant to be a driveable car at one point.
It's main configuration data has a name string entry double commented out for the Bronco, so maybe it was replaced with bronco late into development?
This game has a ton of references with dead ends, the Ford Street Racing 2 logo is just the start, there's configuration files for 66 tracks, more than twice the amount of tracks that are actually in the game.
Some of them even have 3DDATA which means it should be possible to put them in the game fairly easily. However, because of the new file system where ASCII data is compressed, it's currently not possible to replace those tracks because their names are longer than the ones that are used. Even if you did compress the longer filename, the game will give you a compression error and closes.
If I'm not lazy and too busy with other stuff, I might show the tracks one day. I also tried copy-pasting a car from Ford Street Racing and despite the configuration supposedly working as it should, the main model wouldn't display. Probably related to the compression stuff and the fact that the engine versions differ a little.
As of now, I'll probably go back to MW2012 stuff, hopefully the objective of a custom car by the end of next year is still coming together.
