I loaded this up on the level and used Impulse 101 (cause when you load up you have no weapons) to show you what I think is the scariest moments in Half-Life and maybe in all of gaming. I know it seems tame now but back in 1998 I hadn't come across a game like Half-Life. It was just so revolutionary and did so many new things for in game story telling and how it put you in playable cinematics.
What scared me so much about this part was how it plays on most peoples fears of being scared of the dark or not knowing whats under the surface of the water. Every time I'm at the beach or even in a Swimming Pool I always think what if something else is in here with me. I know it's stupid to think that at the Swimming pool but playing Half-Life just made me think this and heightened my fear of the unknown.
That's why this moment will always be one of the scariest, even though it's pretty tame now. Unlike most games which were trying to do jump horror, this made me scared of jumping in that cage for what awaits me under the water.
I stopped the video early at the end so I didn't ruin too much.
