This journey to be more prepared started in 1989 when I read about a woman whose husband was killed by a drunk driver while taking their two children to school. She talked about how it took years to settle the estate because paperwork wasn't organized. I created "All They'll Need to Know" to help protect my own family and realized very quickly that it could benefit others, too. After 20+ years of being involved in the preparedness community, and after seeing my daughter lose their beach house to Hurricane Ike, I began to see how the book could be invaluable not only because of death, but in case of evacuation. People don't mind getting organized when they think of evacuation ... most do, however, have trouble preparing for either their own death or that of a loved one. So move forward a few more years, and I'm also working to help others learn ways they can function in less than desirable situations. The wonder oven is an excellent way to slow cook without electricity.
