  • Why do we wait to live till we begin to die?

Today marks 6 years of our time together.
Can you believe it? 6 years.
It’s been quite a trip looking back at pictures of silly 15 year old me and my gangly, super green moose of a horse.
This video is my way of paying homage to our time together and the beautiful animal I get to call my partner. The first picture in the video is the first picture we ever took together, probably a year or two before I bought him (So like 7 or 8 years ago xD). After that picture, the first part of the video is a picture collage of our first 4-5 years together.
Then, all of the clips are new, from the past month or so. As you can see, we have been doing some really wonderful things recently. Things that I honestly would never have thought we were capable of 6 years ago, or even a couple of years ago.
When I got Hershey, he would spook at almost anything new and run away with me entirely unresponsive to a rather harsh bit (the one he was ridden in before I bought him….) on a regular basis.
Even last year, when I introduced him to a big green ball like the one in the video, he would shy away when it was pushed towards him.
Now we are bravely facing new situations and riding almost exclusively in a halter and lead rope and sometimes just a neck rope. His spooks have become minimal and they do not lead to an eternally reactive horse. He is now pushing the ball on his own and his terror at having strangers touch his face has turned into minimal head shyness.

He is a much, much happier horse now. And with that and other factors, our confidence and trust in each other has multiplied recently and I honestly couldn’t be happier with the direction we are going in now. Still a lot of work for both of us ahead, but for once everything seems more doable. Even our most lofty goals.

So yeah. That’s my bit for today. If you read this whole thing, you deserve a gold star because I seriously have a way of rambling on about this stuff.
I am just so incredibly proud.

Also, thanks for all the support and love you guys have given us over the years. It’s been a fun journey on here as well as in the ‘real world.’

Also a huuuuge thank you to Taylor for filming a ton of these! (http://www.youtube.com/thep......)
