Is there an intersection between being vegetarian and being black? Why or how is it important for us as people of African descent (aka Afrikans) to be vegetarian?
I am a black vegetarian - vegan really - because I reject the status quo of disease, disability and destruction plaguing our community that is brought on by eating the standard American diet. I want to spread the word that being a vegetarian is not a hardship. It is freedom, clarity of mind, AND great food. It is a vital part of reclaiming my Afrikan spirit, my Afrikan power, and my dignity.
Are you black vegetarian? Tell us why in the comments below. Or post a video response.
