Join the campaign to end EU overfishing, http://bit.ly/Xiyz7E - this animation was first launched in May 2012, some of it is out of date, but not the part about citizens responsibility to support decision-makers ... you can help end overfishing.
Most EU fish stocks are overfished. Subsidies fuelling overfishing must end.
On February 6, 2013 the European Parliament voted overwhelming in favour of a far-reaching reform of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy. However, the reform is not fully over. How public funds are invested - the future European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) - will play a critical role in realising the ambition of the Parliament.
On October 23, members of the European Parliament must end the blind spend by voting:
1. For fisheries subsidies that end overfishing; 2. For greater investment in data collection & control and enforcement by; and 3. Against aid for the construction of new vessels.
