This was something borne out of a quick idea that I threw together at the beach last November. I've gone through a number of controllers over the last couple of years, and I think I've settled pretty well with the grid controllerist approach. I still like the physicality of having actual faders and knobs for controlling the mixer. MIDI Katapult has been awesome though, to have for customizing the layout of the Launchpad.

UPDATE: I get lots of questions about this video. Here's a bit of FAQ:
1.) The software used in this video is Ableton Live
2.) The hardware is (are) Novation Launchpad(s) and Korg NanoKontrol
3.) The looping of a string of clips is accomplished by using Follow Actions which is an Ableton Live feature.
4.) Custom mapping was done through a 3rd party app called MIDI Katapult written specifically for the Launchpad. You can MUCH more than what I did with it like building your own faders, XY pads, etc. I only used it to turn the LP buttons from TOGGLE to MOMENTARY, which is what I needed to temporarily send audio from individual channels to delay and reverb sends. You can do this same function in Novation's Automap, which I believe is free, and is actually easier to program than MIDI Katapult.
