If you visit Constitution Gardens today, you’ll find dead fish floating atop stagnant ponds, flooded and cracked sidewalks — impassable to our visitors in wheelchairs — and weed-strewn swathes of dirt where lush lawns once grew. What you won’t find so easily are restrooms, working water fountains, dining options, and other basic visitor amenities.
We have a historic opportunity to finally realize the full potential of Constitution Gardens.
he National Mall is an outdoor civics lesson, reflecting our shared history and democratic values. With this in mind, the Trust for the National Mall launched the 21st Century Leaning Initiative to enhance the visitor experience and engage learners of all ages.
The Learning Initiative's components include personal experiences and interactions through expanded volunteer programs, interactive visitor education, virtual learning and family games, and large-scale educational events.
