SHOWING JULY, AUGUST, SEPTEMBER 2013
Seven visual artists cross mediums from installation and sculpture, print, oil painting and projection mapping.
Seven dancers cross genres from ballet, hiphop, jazz and contemporary.
Seven costumes are made focusing on themes from nature, industrialisation, the body in it's purest and it's most distorted.
Seven musical pieces spread across seven speakers within the space of Union Theatre!
All of these elements create seven gorgeous inter-arts experiences that span a 45 minute show.
Each piece is therefore a combination of an artwork, costume, dance, lighting, and music. For each piece people from each medium must work together to compose and choreograph. Elements such as setting, style, materials, emotion, rhythms, movement, lines, and pattern, are all present in every medium and it is in this manner that each medium in its showing as one, becomes a part of an over-all gestalt effect. The end artwork is less a combination of things, more a new thing in itself - a medium based off of tangibility and experience.
The show aims to show art in it's truest form, as an experience. The audience are drawn to each performance as it happens through the lighting, direction of sound, and the dancers literally coming out of the artworks. At the same time they can look at all the other visual artworks in the space. The concepts of contemporary art have changed and now the gallery space has changed too. Day and night - static and active.
