As we begin our 115th academic year, we reflect on our history and look forward to our future. We are never complacent. We are always becoming.
Lynchburg has always been a college that changes lives. Students come here to become more of who they are, and more of who they want to be.
The College has evolved, too. Since 1903, we’ve grown from a handful of students to a diverse, united community of students, professors, staff, and alumni around the world.
We prepare students for lives of learning and service in the arts, business, education, public service, and healthcare. Our faculty are renowned in their fields, and devoted to teaching. Our teams — both athletic and academic — compete nationally, and they prevail.
For generations, we’ve been becoming a university.
This year, we’re celebrating our history as Lynchburg College and preparing for our future as the University of Lynchburg. But we’re doing more than changing our name. We’re building a campus that will serve generations of future Lynchburg students. We’re becoming more engaging, more diverse, and life-changing.
We are Lynchburg. We’re building a bigger family and a stronger community. We’re never complacent. We are always becoming.
"A great college is always in the process of becoming." — M. Carey Brewer ’49, former president of Lynchburg College
