Busy Heart live from the living room of my humble Brooklyn abode
My mom gave me money for the desk behind me for my second attempt at braving New York. It's funny how a small thing like a piece of furniture can really say, "I believe you can do great things here!" When I sit at that desk it makes me think of how grateful I am for a second chance and how much someone having faith in your dream can really help you to realize your full self.
My family runs a school in a small village in western Kenya founded by my grandfather. When my brothers and I visited the kids a few years ago, there were three and four of the cutest little children to a "desk" using every inch of every scrap of paper they were given-- so eager to learn. It's easy to underestimate the power of a desk. This one goes out to mom and dad.
