Charlie Thomas, former Sky News and Sky Sports presenter, hair transplant story and testimonial. July 2018. HRBR, Hair Restoration Blackrock. https://www.hrbr.ie/
- - My name's Charlie Thomas, I'm a former TV presenter, I used to present the sports on Sky News and Sky Sports. My story really starts when I was about nine years old, when, completely out of the blue, no warning at all, my hair fell out. Not the entire head of hair, just in small patches, but still pretty traumatic. Went to see the doctor, and he said it was something called alopecia, and he said that more than likely, it would grow back. Which indeed it did, and after two or three months it had all grown back, and I forgot all about it. And it happened a couple more times, the final time was when I was around about 13, again it grew back, except this time there was one area at the back of my head where it didn't grow back. I think it would have affected my career if it had been at the front of my head, but because it was round the back, nobody knew about it. I think what made me take the final step was twofold, really, one was the awareness of getting older, and thinking that, you know, sooner or later, my hair is probably going to start getting thinner, and when that happens, it is going to get harder and harder to cover up the lack of hair at the back. So, that was one thing I was aware of. And the second factor, was coming across HRBR, doing a bit of research into their methods, and thinking, hang on a minute, these guys really do seem to know what they're doing. I made an appointment, flew over to Dublin, and as soon as I came through the doors of HRBR, I kinda felt in safe hands, I had the consultation, and he was quite honest, he said, "You know, I've actually never come across this before, I don't know if my methods will work." So, very sensibly, I thought, he suggested we do a trial, and that's exactly what we did. So, several months later, the surgery got in touch and said, "Would you like to come back, so that we can have a look and see what's happened?" So, I flew back over, and they were delighted, actually, with what had happened. Not only had the hair remained in place but it had actually grown and really taken root, which I think was even more than they could have hoped. So, they felt confident to say, "Let's do the full procedure." So, here I am, just a few hours away from the main procedure, and, I'm excited, but also I can't quite get my head around it, because I honestly can't remember a time when I had hair, at the back of my head. I think the first thing I'm going to do, is just let my hair grow long and just see what it feels like, knowing that it's going to be absolutely fine. It's not going to look thin or straggly, and then I'll think about getting it cut quite a bit shorter. You know, I've suddenly got all these options that I've never had before. Also, it's gonna be great, just walking down the street, not worrying about whether a sudden gust of wind is gonna blow the hair up, and, you know, my secret will be revealed, I don't have to worry about that anymore. So, there's going to be a huge sense of, a kind of relief in a way, that all that sort of thing, I don't have to worry about. I'm quite sure there must be other people out there like me, but who don't know what to do about it. So, what I'd like to say to them is, come and check out HRBR, because I'm here to tell you that it does work. You can do something about it. So, why not do it? It can be life transforming.
