A cold but sunny day at Firle Beacon on the Sussex Downs in the UK. Simon is flying his Purbeck Models 1/3rd scale MDM-1 Fox sailplane, 4.7 metres wing span, 5.2 metres with tip extensions weighing around 16 kilograms.
As I enjoy flying big scale radio controlled gliders and sailplanes, I have put together here a number of videos from various sources but mainly those shot and edited by 'miniphase' who always produces excellent short video films. There are around 80 on his channel and many more videos and photos on his website 'Goodwind Soaring' - just Google to find it.
I have taken the liberty of putting miniphase's video of my Purbeck Sailplanes 1/3rd scale MDM-1 Fox glider 'Arctic Fox', at the top of the list because its a cracking sailplane and it flies like a dream. This was my very first flight with this aircraft and it was accompanied in the air by Simon's 'Big Fox' which acted as a pathfinder to ensure that there was sufficient lift on our little hill at Maidstone to keep 'Arctic Fox' airborne.
