🇵🇪 ⛰ #SalkantayTrekking
DAY 1/4 - Started off with altitude sickness, already unwell but excited to begin the trek of 8km with this beautiful view!!! (We ended up doing 15km by the end of it) Today was the test to see if I could potentially do the 22km on day 2!
It was so hard to breathe with phlegm and snot coming out........! 🤧😷🤒 Thanks to Ian Laurente for supporting me and pushing me to reach the top of Humantay Lake! Let’s just say, I was already struggling. We had sun, wind, rain and hail all in the one day.... 😅
Altitude = 4280m
Our Glass domes for the first cold night! 😍❤️ it was freeeeeeezing but we loved it!!
🇵🇪🏔 DAY 2/4 Of the Salkantay Trek was a RIDICULOUS and challenging 12 hours of work! (Over 22km this day)
We left our campsite at Soraypampa and started to make our way uphill to the top of Salkantay High Pass at 4600m
“Salkantay” means “savage” in the Incan language of Quechua! I believe that this mountain lives up to its name 😅
From Day 1, I knew it would’ve been extremely difficult for me to climb Salkantay, already suffering from the flu and short of breath.. So Myself and a few others opted for the horse up to the top! I’m not going to lie, I regret nothing. Haha
I am so so proud of Ian Laurente and our Sexy Alpaca group for making it to the top in all its glory! ❤️
🇵🇪⛰🛤 DAY 3 of #SalkantayTrekking
The Coca Farmers were protesting close by to our base camp, so unfortunately we missed some beautiful trekking along the mountainside. We experienced the sites from the bus, where we sang and danced with our sexy alpaca group.
We walked along the train line to Aguas Calientes and got eaten alive by mosquitos! I guess it’s fair to say we were looking forward to our final destination on Day 4 of Machu Picchu~!
🇵🇪⛰🛤 FINAL DAY 4 of #SalkantayTrekking
🌟 We made it to MACHU PICCHU!!! ⛰
The day started off with fog and we could barely see anything, then the sun broke through the clouds revealing Machu Picchu in all its glory~!!! We could never get sick of the ruins...they are INCA-redible
All the hiking (over 80km), sweat and tears was all worth it!
It was such an amazing experience and a great achievement to have accomplished the Salkantay Trek, Machu Picchu and the crazy Huayna Picchu Mountain!
Another one off the bucket list 🙌🏽
