Internationally renowned pianist Dr Allan Zavod was discovered by Duke Ellington who arranged for him to further his jazz studies at the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston.

Zavod toured, played and recorded with celebrated bands such as Glen Miller, Woody Herman, Maynard Ferguson, Cab Calloway, Jean-Luc Ponty, Frank Zappa, George Benson, Sting and Nigel Kennedy as well as solo performances before Royalty and Heads of State.

Achieving international success as a composer who combines classical and jazz genres, Allan's symphonic works have been performed by orchestras in Australia, Europe and the US.

As a film composer Allan has scored over 30 films including a movie with Eric Clapton, and the Environmental Symphony narrated by Sir Richard Branson.

University of Melbourne awarded Zavod Doctor of Music in recognition of his international achievements as a classical jazz fusion composer.
