This is probably going to be a pretty damn long description, so bear with me.
I've wanted to do an [X amount of subs] video for a while, mainly at 100, but I was just never satisfied with anything I FC'd. I wanted it to be something I was really proud of. Then back in August of last year, I managed to randomly FC this on pro drums. Of all the instruments in the song, that was the one I expected to FC the least. If you are one of those six people who were subscribed to me when I uploaded this (http://www.youtube.com/watc...
...), you'd understand. I considered just uploading drums for 100 subs, but eventually I decided to go for the one man band FC.
You may have noticed quite a bit of time has passed since August. That is the fault of the guitar chart (and me for being bad). I'll give you a few random facts that convey how hard it was for me:
- This was the first song I EVER FC'd with breakneck speed. It was the only way I could hit the third solo.
- I have played the song now a total of 70 times (all the way to the stats screen), a whopping 38 times more than any other song.
- I spent hours over those 6 months trying to gain any kind of consistency on the solo in practice. Of all the times spent playing the solo, I hit it just under 2% of the time.
- I managed to path the song so well, that I would've been first by over 3k points, had I not royally ruined the path on the FC run. This new guitar's tilt sensor is too sensitive.
As you can probably see, this was one hell of a project (for my standards). I never really did any grinding fortunately, only played the song maybe twice a week beyond the first few days of trying to FC it. Keys also gave me a fair bit of trouble. Had to drop a few sustains because the chords were such a problem. But at least I got that in one day. Bass is relatively easy (sightread FC'd it way back the day it came out), but probably my favorite instrument to play on the song. And yes, yes, I know I 99 glitched vocals. I honestly have no clue where though. For #@%&'s suck, I could sing the song in my sleep, so I really don't care. Despite how much of a pain this was, it was really damn worth it.
Now on to the important part of this description: you guys! Thank you all so, so much, for watching, commenting, liking, trolling, etc., my videos. While I absolutely adore playing Rock Band, and recording videos of it, whether to introduce people to lesser known RBN songs or flaunt my mediocre skills, it wouldn't be half as fun without all of you. I aim to keep up daily uploads as often as I can, so thanks again for watching.
I'm not one for shoutouts (I love everyone the same amount!), but there are a couple necessary here:http://www.youtube.com/xthe...
John, ultimately without you asking me to join TPE, I wouldn't have an HDPVR, and 98% of my videos wouldn't be here. I needed something to push me over that fence finally. But more importantly, you've inspired me to get better at drums, both in, and out of Rock Band. Specifically quad fills. I could never have hoped to hit all the double kicks in this song a year ago, and certainly not the quad fill. So I like to think I've improved somewhat.http://www.youtube.com/beac...
Shane, thank you for editing this video (and all those others you've done), and putting up with my incessant nagging and general lack of patience. Trust me, I know from the few I did edit myself, doing these isn't fun. Also thanks for being a cool dude. :s
