DIS-PATCH FESTIVAL OF CUTTING-EDGE MUSIC 7 RELATED ART BELGRADE / SERBIA Edition 7: October 11th - 20th 2008
Dis-patch, Serbia's leading "cutting-edge music and related art festival" has come a long way and is reaching its 7th edition in 2008. Since 2002, the event has become a meeting point of many distinguished musicians, and a precious chance for the local audience to be confronted with a diverse range of artists from all over Europe, the US, Canada and beyond who are walking thin lines between styles and expressions. Dis-patch has been highly supportive of the local scene, using the event as a creative force and involving Serbian artists and musicians. It shares experiences through the global ICAS network of like-minded events such as Clubtransmediale, Mutek, NuMusic, Ultrahang, Futuresonic and many others.
From October 11th to 20th this year, it will offer a packed program of concerts, parties, performances, workshops, lectures, artist in residence and children's programs... 30+ guest artists will be presenting their work at several venues, in the most extensive edition of the festival to date. The music program will cover a wide territory from post-rock, solo voice, drone and noisy excursions, all the way to cut-up electronica, dubstep or deep Berlin techno. Either way, Dis-patch enjoys giving its contribution to the further blurring of the borders and making stylistic distinctions obsolete.
The list of confirmed artists, among others, includes: Pan American, Deadbeat, 2562, Errorsmith, Substance, Thomas Köner, Nemeth, Martin Brandlmayr, Autistic Daughters, Rashim, Morgan Packard, Staalplaat Sound System, Lukatoyboy, Piece of Shh.., DJ Pete, Optical Machnies, Termulator X, Telco Systems and more.
There are several showcases in the accompanying program as well: a presentation of contemporary Dutch scene in collaboration with Today's Art festival, analogue synth frenzy with Schneiders Buero outta Berlin plus world premiere of the "Totally Wired" documentary, workshop and track contest in collaboration with Ableton, instrument-building + gamepad playing workshops for kids and the Sonic Wargame by Xavier van Wersch.
Dis-patch proves once more to be one of the leading events in the region, also drawing attention from audiences from the surrounding countries and beyond. If you are in for some fresh energy and an intimate, but schnapps-fuelled festival atmosphere - be sure to visit Belgrade this October. Tourist advice will be available on the festival webpage!
