Does living a full life mean that a person living with a mood disorder will never experience symptoms or face relapse? Not likely—not at least until we have better treatments and access to care for all.
But any person will experience challenges to their health and emotional wellbeing in their lifetime.
These challenges might define how ill someone may be, but not how well they are. They may impact the person, but they do not limit the impact that person can make in the world.
In fact, throughout history, individuals with mental health conditions have done extraordinary things—some may say in spite of their conditions, and some may go so far to say, at least in part, because of them. For a moment, let’s reflect on what the world would have missed without them.
