"The Requiem" presents dramatic themes where the age-old conflict of Man and Nature is played out by a diverse cast: Global Corporate Gangsters, the Big Ocean, the fisher people, ghosts of oil drillers, a mermaid chorus and a few oil-covered animals. Our characters play roles within a semi-narrative, honoring the loss of a way of life given by the sea. Concept, narrative, video and media production by Carolyn Speranza. Musical composition by Frank Ferraro in collaboration with Carolyn Speranza. Video sources include Associated Press news footage, silent films, Peter Gunn episodes, surfing video, oil & gas industry propaganda films and Newport cigarette advertisements.
