Chris Austria is a wildlife conservationist and photographer living in East Africa. He has worked on conservation and ecotourism projects in Ethiopia, Uganda, and Rwanda. Austria worked with tigers, lions and other wild animals for many years, at Six Flags in Vallejo, CA, the San Francisco Zoo, and other sanctuaries. His career inspired him to work in wildlife conservation. Austria works for the Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Uganda. The sanctuary was founded in 1998 by Dr. Jane Goodall and a group of founding trustees. Ngamba Island is home to 48 chimpanzees that have been rescued from the illegal wildlife trade.
