Thanks to the Casey Cares Foundation, Giana, a two-year-old battling Leukemia, will receive an unforgettable birthday celebration. Because Giana’s critical illness makes it difficult for her and her family to leave the house to celebrate her birthday, Casey Cares is bringing the party directly to her. On Tuesday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m., volunteers from the Casey Cares Foundation will show up to Giana’s front doorstep with a birthday surprise, showering her with a delicious cake made especially for an assortment of balloons donated by local businesses.
Giana is Casey Cares’ 500th Birthday Blast recipient in the year of 2014 alone! To give you an idea of how much the Birthday Blast program has grown, Casey Cares was founded in 2000, and celebrated its 1000th total birthday in 2009. Now Casey Cares has grown to celebrate more than 500 birthdays in one year. Giana was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia this past August, after her parents noticed a rash on her body when they were on their way to swim lessons. She is currently on treatment at Johns Hopkins.
