The Broadcasting Board of Governors is composed of nine members with expertise in the fields of mass communications, broadcast media, or international affairs. Eight members are appointment by the President and confirmed by the Senate. The ninth, the Secretary of State, serves ex officio. The Board meets regularly throughout the year, and its meetings are open to the public, via in-person attendance, live-streaming, and Youtube videos.
The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) and Gallup are partnering on the BBG Research Series, which examines how people use radio, television and digital media in key developing countries. So far, the BBG has issued results from Indonesia, Burma, Nigeria, Tibet and Iran.
