Timelapse of sidewalk astronomy session outside Toa Payoh Public Library Singapore on 7 July 2016. Telescope featured is a 5-inch refractor owned and operated by James Ling.
Great turnout for hours observing Mars, Saturn and Jupiter despite the recently completed light-polluting semi-shelter to the left of the video in the world's most light polluted country (http://www.astro.sg/2016/06...
). Even stargazers need to use their hands to shield their eyes from this semi-shelter to locate bright Mars, Saturn and Antares on that clear night!
A huge pity those people and organisations involved suggesting, supporting, designing and approving this semi-shelter did not attend any stargazing session at this exact location at least since 2010. Or at least educate themselves about light pollution before Singapore is ranked #1 six years later.
